Delphi Lodge & Estate

  • Our Partners

The Connemara Fishing Company was established to bring High end guided fishing services to the Connemara region. We partnered with Delphi Loge to create an on-site Fly Fishing school, and guiding service, that caters to anglers in the wider Connemara region.

The Delphi fishery is the one of the most prestigious and prolific salmon fisheries on Ireland’s west coast.

  • Accommodation at Delphi Lodge

A stay at Delphi lodge is unlike anywhere else in Ireland. Unwind in the uplifting surroundings and breathe in the aroma of wood-burning fires, pull up a comfy chair and soak in the cosy warm atmosphere. At dinner, the daily catch of fresh salmon is accompanied by tales of the fight, and maybe a glass of wine or two to be enjoyed around the communal “Long table” style old oak dining table.

This beautiful lodge has 13 large comfortable bedrooms one of which is a large family suite and three which can be either twin or triple rooms. A large dining room, a snooker room and three old world reception rooms with log fires all combine to ensure that our guests have a warm, relaxing and friendly experience throughout their stay.

Delphi Fishery

Fly fishermen have been coming to Delphi for centuries. Formerly it was the sporting playground of the Marquis of Sligo. It is now particularly noted for its excellent runs of Atlantic salmon.

Delphi’s spring salmon run commences between January and June, followed by the smaller and more plentiful run of grilse from mid June to late August.

Prime Seasons For our Spring Salmon are Early April - LAte May, with our prime grilse season being Mid June - Mid August.

Fresh run fish may be taken in Delphi at any time from February 1st. The wild salmon stock is now supplemented by a hatchery programme which produces 50,000 smolts per annum.

Delphi Estate

Delphi Lodge lies nestled within the beautiful and rugged mountains of Connemara in the West of Ireland. The historic and fabled fishing lodge rests within a large estate comprised of a vast, interconnected Lake and river system, which provides the perfect environment for Atlantic Salmon and Trout to thrive.

The Bundorragha river is the crown jewel of Delphi and is a classic clear running semi spate river that drains the waters of the Delphi valley into Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord. The Bundorragha is Delphi’s main and most prolific river stretch. The river is easily fished from both banks with little to no angling obstructions, providing a continuous fishing experience for fishermen, with the chance of a take on every cast. In addition to its unique fishing the Bundorragha holds the healthiest remaining population of Fresh Water Pearl mussels in Europe, a clear indication of the system’s pristine health.

The Bundorragha river drains Delphi Estate’s large lakes, Finlough & Doolough.

Finlough is a relatively small and shallow lake overlooked by Delphi Lodge, set between the sheer, heather-covered mountains that make up the estate. It is the most popular and prolific of the Delphi lakes.

Doolough is Delphi estate’s Largest body of water, and is a wild, formidable, yet spectacularly beautiful lake. One of the deepest lakes in Ireland, Doolough is over 2km long, and is overlooked by the tallest mountains in Connacht, the Mweelrea mountain range. Here the angler truly has the feeling of total isolation in the wilderness, fishing for salmon and sea trout on the most tempestuous of Irish Loughs, under the watchful eye of nesting peregrine falcons in the cliffs overhead.
